Vinyl

I've been pretty quiet on here of late, you could say that I've been kind of busy with work, traveling, training, just plain doing shit. But whatever, no excuse. In the past few months I've started to amass a pretty decent collection of vinyl. While I haven't photographed everything, I have taken some of some of the absolute best stuff I've gotten.

SunnO))) & Boris - Altar

This is from a limited pressing of 510 picture disks with photos from their big 'Altar' show they did together in London. Every side is absolutely awesome.

Kayo Dot - Dowsing Anemone with Copper Tongue

When I saw a new limited pressing of this album came out, I hopped on it. Well worth the wait (nearly a month), I think.

SunnO))) - Oracle

Their 2007 release that while its only 2 tracks, still blows my mind. Helio)))sophist is really one of their top works, ever. Plus on clear vinyl it kicks all sorts of ass.

Kayo Dot & Bloody Panda Split LP

They finally repressed this one, and I finally got it. "Don't Touch Dead Animals" is one of my favorite Kayo Dot songs, so I had to have this.

Neurosis - Given to the Rising

I'll admit I had a hard time getting into the latest Neurosis album, but having it on vinyl makes it a bit easier to listen to, and I've found things I didn't hear before on it.

Good look, brah. Man that Altar looks nice; how does it sound? My brown discs sound pretty dicey to be honest. I proper want those pic discs, but I also want the JPN edition and I can't be having the album on three sets of vinyl.

And yeah, I want that spesh Neurosis set too. There is too much to buy!

Oh, about Oracle: what is it? Is it a proper thing? I'm dying for sunnO))) to release something legit (i.e. not live or whatever).

Altar actually sounds pretty awesome on the picture discs. I was really pleased with them, and was kind of iffy on how they would sound.

Oracle is a two-song EP from last year. They ship a bonus CD with it that has the bonus track, Helio)))sophist with it, but its just about 40 minutes and 2 tracks without that. That being said, I'd say its a good thing to have. I mean, a jackhammer.

I'm still pissed I got fucked out of TSIB a week ago on ebay. Who ends an auction at 2am PST, anyway?

Man, that's bad news. Was it original press or 2007 re-release? I'm used to unsociable end times. Between American and Japanese sellers, I'm often best off sticking a snipe programme on and leaving the computer running while I go to bed.

But while we're on the subject of records you don't own, be prepared for major irkage when I update the blog in a day or two...

It was the original pressing, it wasn't in pristine condition, but 60 bucks US for that seemed pretty awesome, considering it had been going for well over 300 in other auctions.

Alas.

I was so glad I pounced when I did. I got the original press just after the re-press came out and everyone was complacent about getting the album for 18 bux. Enter: me, swooping down to pick up the Iron City pressing for about 40 dollars. Well pleased with that.

I still haven't done my planned compare/contrast of the two pressings, actually.
